Author Study: Jan Brett

Over the last month we have been reading stories by Jan brett. To conclude our author study our class partnered with a kindergarten class to have a Jan Brett celebration. The second graders do a wonderful job reading to the kindergarteners, our celebration was complete by writing letters on stationary and we even had homemade hedgie hedgehog cookies. The students really enjoyed this experience. Ask them to tell you more about it.

Happy Holidays!

It is my wish for all of you that you have a joyous holiday season filled with many fond memories together. I look forward to seeing each one of you back in the new year!

Our year has gotten off to a great start! I am excited about the things we will be doing this year. I welcome parents to come at anytime and see what we are doing in the classroom. Currently we are covering sound in science. We are also really focusing on community and being a good citizen in and outside of the classroom. In math we are hitting addition and subtraction facts hard. I encourage you to also practice these with your child at home. Also, it is my hope that each student has a love and passion for reading. I give the students as many opportunities that I can in the classroom to be surrounded with good books. READING IS THE WAY TO GROW!
